The rule is in the Terms, under Results and ownership:

Results you create while on a paid plan, or after you have bought credits, may be used commercially. Results created only with free credits are for personal, non-commercial use.

What that means in practice

  • On a paid plan: results you create may be used commercially, for example in ads, product listings, thumbnails, client work or merchandise.
  • After buying credits: buying a top-up counts as buying credits.
  • Only free credits: results you create using only the 50 free signup credits are for personal, non-commercial use.

Commercial use is not a separate license you buy. It comes with paying for the service, as the rule above says.

Checks before commercial use

Owning a result does not clear everything in it. The Terms make you responsible for how you use your results, including checking that they do not infringe anyone's rights. Before a result goes into anything public or paid:

  • Real people. If the result shows a real person, you need their permission to use their likeness, the same as with a photo. See What you can create.
  • Brands and characters. A trademark, logo or character that appears in a result still belongs to its owner.
  • Similar results. Other users can get similar results from similar prompts, so a result may not be unique to you.
  • Labelling. Where the law requires AI-generated media to be labelled, label it. See Attribution and labelling.
  • Truthfulness. Do not present a result as a real photo or recording of an actual event, for example a product photo that shows features the product does not have.

Model provider rules

Each model provider's content policy also applies to results from its models. The model name is shown on every result card and on each model page, so you can see which provider made it.

Your own API key

Jobs that run on your own OpenRouter or fal key are billed by that provider under its own terms. Those terms apply to those jobs alongside ours.
